Already in qualifying, Oliver showed impressive speed and secured the second fastest time, just 0.6 seconds behind local driver Ruben Bijman. Oliver had assessed in advance that this weekend's race would be challenging, as several of the top drivers have this track as their home track and thus have extensive experience here.
RACE 1:
Already in the first turn of the race, Oliver managed to take the lead. A leading group of three drivers, including Oliver, quickly formed, pulling away from the rest of the field. Throughout the race there was an intense battle with constantly changing positions in the leading group.
On the final lap, the pressure increased from all drivers and it was impossible to predict who would cross the finish line first. Unfortunately, Oliver had to settle for third place, just 0.09 seconds behind the winner.
Ahead of the weekend's second race, the team worked with their technicians to find a little extra speed in the bike and studied track data closely.
RACE 2:
Sunday's race was again a close race, and once again Oliver managed to get a good start and place himself in the important leading group. This time the group consisted of four fast drivers, including Oliver, who quickly pulled away from the rest of the field.
After an exciting race, it was once again impossible to say on the final lap who had the energy to be first across the finish line. Once again, the infamous and well-known harassment just before the finish line became decisive for the result.
In the final corner of the race, the drivers were fighting hard for positions, and one of the competitors drove outside the track boundary. Surprisingly, the race management chose not to impose a penalty for this incident.
– Of course I am a little disappointed with a fourth place in the second race of the weekend and surprised by the race management's decision, but I expected a difficult weekend as I was the only driver in the leading group who does not have this track as his home track. I am just happy that I am still leading the championship and that every point is important, says Oliver.
In addition to the normal field of drivers, Oliver, in collaboration with IDM, had arranged for other Scandinavian SuperSport 300 drivers to try their hand at IDM. This wildcard opportunity was taken up by three Scandinavian drivers, who all agreed that it had been a great experience.
