Oliver Svendsen Wins Gold Despite Difficult Start at Nürburgring

Oliver Svendsen secured a gold medal despite a far from optimal start at the 6th and penultimate round of the German championship, which was held at the famous Nürburgring circuit in Germany. Although the Nürburgring is often associated with the legendary "Nordschleife" – a 21 km long country road where you can drive without speed limits – this weekend's race was held on the 3.6 km long "Grand Prix Course".

For Oliver Svendsen, this was his first time driving at the Nürburgring outside of the computer simulator, which made Friday’s practice session crucial. Unfortunately, the challenges of the weekend became apparent even before the team reached the track. When the team woke up on Friday morning, they were greeted by rain and dense fog, which led them to choose to skip the first practice of the weekend due to poor visibility. The fog worsened during the day, and the race management decided to cancel all practice for the rest of the day. As a result, Oliver’s first encounter with the track was instead during the first qualifying session of the weekend on Saturday.

Saturday morning saw a repeat of the bad weather, and Q1 was cancelled before Oliver could get on track. This meant that Q2 would be Oliver’s first time at the Nürburgring. Despite the difficult start, Oliver raced to an impressive third place (P3) in qualifying for the first race of the weekend.

As championship leader, Oliver's most important task this weekend was to secure as many points as possible to maintain his lead in the championship.
